Josh and I have some of the coolest friends ever. And we are so blessed to be a part of a great community group with two (maybe now three?) other couples that want to grow together toward holiness, pushing and pulling each other toward righteousness, and encouraging each other daily. One of the projects the girls decided to take on was making some dresses for the Little Dresses for Africa program. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s a project that collects dresses for girls made of thrifted pillowcases, and then sends them to Africa for the children that would normally have very tattered clothing.
We had a sewing party this past weekend and had a BLAST! It was my first attempt at sewing a pillowcase dress, but I’m happy to report- it’s a cinch! This YouTube video was extremely helpful and I followed it with no problem at all.
We only finished two dresses that day, but I’ve been slowly working on about 15 more and can’t wait to show you the finished product. In the end, we’ll send them off to be shipped to Africa. I’m just happy to be a part of something bigger than myself. I hope that these dresses that we send will meet a need and put a smile on a little girl’s face.
Since last weekend, Jenn blogged about our sewing day and a few other people decided they wanted to get involved as well. If you want to get involved and start sewing with us, leave a comment below and I’ll send you more information!
