I’m going to start this post off with a few facts.
1. My favorite spot in my kitchen is my ‘coffee cart’. But… the wall above the coffee cart is (was) achingly empty.
2. Lovey and I splurged and got road-side trash pick up with the extra add-on for recycling. The road-side recycling truck does not pick up dark glass or cardboard.
3. We use toilet paper and paper towels, therefore we make lots of cardboard waste that (see #2) either gets put in the trash or piled up waist high until we take it to the cardboard recycling place at the dump.
I promise these facts are related.
I saw a post here that got me thinking about how I could repurpose my cardboard trash. I don’t need a wreath- I’ve got a beautiful fall wreath already. Hmmm…. what if I used these cute flowers to put a little extra pizzazz in my coffee cart area? Or… what if I used them to frame the door frame beside my coffee cart area? PERFECT!
It’s real easy. Collect your toilet paper rolls and paper towel rolls for a few weeks. Flatten them and cut into 1/2″ strips. Hot glue the ‘petals’ into a flower shape. I found that 6-7 petals per flower worked best. Arrange the flowers into the bigger arrangement (just go for it- don’t lose sleep over this… the beauty of handmade is in the imperfections) and hot glue into place. Spray paint whatever color you want.
Then use your paisley hammer and place some strategic nails and hang your masterpiece. Now stand back and smile. 🙂
thrifty, green, AND beautiful!
I like – different and inexpensive – my kind of decorating.

Love the idea I just started collecting to make my flowers, It will be a perfect addition to my art filled room.
I found this tutorial awhile ago and am soo happy with my results! I backed the flowers with colorful scrapbooking paper and then used them to frame a couple of posters I have on my walls! My friends love them and they were so stinking easy, not to mention eco-friendly!
Inspired I love this and so simple 😉
